We are delighted to present Alison Cox's final Composition Concert before her retirement at the end of this academic year.
38 Composition Alumni and staff have each written a 1 or 2 minute piece based on 'Sumer is icumen in' and will be performed by Purcell students. This is the oldest known musical composition featuring six-part polyphony. The manuscript in which it is preserved was copied between 1261 and 1264.
After some refreshments Principal Paul Bambrough will lead a Q&A session on The History of The Purcell School, featuring three of our longest-serving members of staff; Alison Cox, Edward Longstaff and Panos Fellas.
Programme will be as follow:
5pm Composition Concert: Sumer Is Icumin In
6.30pm Light Refreshements
7pm Q&A sessions: A History of The Purcell School
8pm Finish
Tickets are free of charge. Donations are warmly welcomed during registration or on the evening.
