THE RAPAPORT SOCIETY

Leave a Lasting Legacy

Rosemary Rapaport was a gifted violinist whose talent for teaching was such that in 1962 she co-founded a specialist school for young musicians with her friend, Irene Forster. She felt that the education system was not providing children of exceptional musical talent with the specialist provision they required.

This pioneering venture was the Central Tutorial School for Young Musicians, later renamed The Purcell School, and was the very first independent specialist music school of its kind in the United Kingdom.

Our musicians and composers could not have succeeded without the generous support of individuals who made provision in their will to donate to the School. Leaving a legacy is a generous method of continuing your support for The Purcell School, enabling you to extend support beyond your lifetime. We value our legators in the same way we do our donors and encourage them to be part of the Purcell community and enjoy the variety of music and events we offer.  Legacy donors are acknowledged, with permission, in our concert programmes and other school literature.

Making a will is a significant personal responsibility and we appreciate that the welfare and concern of those closest to you is, understandably, your first priority. Once you are comfortable that these needs have been met, we hope you will then consider leaving a gift to The Purcell School. Just as your will brings security to your family’s future, your legacy to The Purcell School will make a significant impact on the lives of young musicians for many generations - this impact cannot ever be underestimated.

There are many ways in which you can leave a legacy in your will

Legacies made for general purposes are especially valuable, as this allows us to direct your support into projects that are the most needed at that time. However, if you wish your gift to be used to fund a specific area at Purcell some ideas include:

• Providing scholarships for young musicians of the future

• Funding new instruments or sponsorship of concerts

• Contributing to our Capital Projects plan to develop and enhance facilities

• Supporting our award winning Outreach programme in the community
