Welcome to the latest edition of Purcell's Weekly Highlights!

HSH PRINCE DONATUS VISITS PURCELL
On Wednesday 1st March 2023, His Serene Highness Prince Donatus visited The Purcell School, taking in a tour of the School and observing classes of Maths, English, Academic, Music Tech, Art and German.

Following an impressive lunchtime concert of Beethoven, Handel, Christopher Ball, Dohnányi and Franck, performed by Luca (Year 8, piano), April (Year 9, recorder), Dominic-Lucian (Year 12, violin), Tifany (Year 12, violin), Lindsey (Year 12, cello), Henrietta (Year 13, violin), Fiona (Year 13, viola), Ella (Year 11, cello) and Thomas (Year 13, piano), His Highness finished his time with us by taking in chamber music rehearsals.

We are grateful to His Serene Highness Prince Donatas for visiting Purcell, and to all those who took part in the day.

PURCELL PIANIST IN INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION
Last weekend, Year 11 pianist Phoebe travelled to Switzerland having been selected as a Finalist in The International Piano Competition Neuchâtel Val de Travers 2023. The competition was held over two days in the Conservatoire de Musique Neuchâtelois and was available to watch globally via live-streaming. Phoebe was honoured to be a Prize Winner being awarded 2nd Prize by the Jury and invited to perform at the Laureates Concert and Award Ceremony in the beautiful concert hall at Temple du Bas, Neuchâtel on Sunday 26th February. Congratulations, Phoebe!
