Being awarded a full scholarship at the Purcell school enabled me to study without the heavy financial worries that would otherwise have been overwhelming, especially with the high exchange rate at the time. It gave me the chance to focus fully on my music and to work with complete dedication.
That support laid the foundation for everything that followed — from winning competitions, making recordings with Naxos, China Record etc to concerts and masterclass tours across China and Southeast Asia’s top conservatories and concert halls, and to teaching at leading UK institutions including RAM, RNCM, RCS, and Chetham’s.
I was appointed as an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, and was offered the position of Head of Keyboard at the Qingdao Menuhin School of Music, but chose to continue my work in the UK, where I serve as a piano professor and mentor pianists from around the world.
